Web Wizards – Build Your Own Magical Website

Introduction:

In this HTML for Kids course, your child will step into the role of a young web wizard, learning the same language that powers every website in the world. Through fun, hands-on projects, they’ll discover how to bring their ideas to life on screen — building pages with words, pictures, colors, and links. While the learning feels like play, they’ll be gaining real, future-ready skills in problem-solving, creativity, and digital confidence. By the end of the course, they won’t just be browsing the internet — they’ll understand how it works, and they’ll have their own multi-page website to proudly share with friends and family. It’s a magical blend of imagination and technology that sparks curiosity today and opens doors for tomorrow.

Roadmap:

Week 1 – The Magic Behind Websites

Goal: Find out how websites are made and build your very first one.

Session 1:

  • Learn that HTML is like the Lego blocks that build every website.
  • Peek “behind the curtain” at a real website’s hidden code.
  • Activity: Type <h1>Hello, [Your Name]!</h1> and open it in a browser — see your name shine!

Session 2:

  • Meet the heading tags (<h1> to <h3>) and paragraph tag (<p>).
  • Activity: Make a “My Fun Facts” page — add your name, favorite snack, and coolest hobby.

Session 3:

  • Learn the line break tag <br> (like pressing Enter on your keyboard).
  • Mini Project: Make an “About Me” page with big, medium, and small headings.
Week 2 – Add the Fun Stuff

Goal: Make your page come alive with pictures, buttons, and lists.

Session 4:

  • Add pictures with <img src=”…”> and write alt text (so people know what it is if the picture doesn’t load).
  • Activity: Add a picture of your favorite animal, toy, or place.

Session 5:

  • Create clickable buttons with <a href=”…”>.
  • Activity: Link to your favorite game, song, or YouTube video.

Session 6:

  • Make lists with <ul> (bullet points) and <ol> (numbers).
  • Activity: Make a “Top 5 Favorite Things” list (foods, games, or movies).
Week 3 – Dress Up Your Page

Goal: Use CSS (Costume Style Stuff!) to make your website colorful and cool.

Session 7:

  • Add a <style> section in your HTML.
  • Change background colors and text colors.
  • Activity: Make rainbow-colored headings.

Session 8:

  • Change fonts and make words bigger or smaller.
  • Activity: Make a “Poster Page” with giant colorful letters.

Session 9:

  • Add borders (like picture frames) and padding/margins (space around things).
  • Activity: Frame a photo and write a silly caption under it.
Week 4 – Your First Website

Goal: Make your own mini-website with multiple pages.

Session 10:

  • Plan your site: a Homepage, a Hobbies page, and a Favorites page.

Session 11:

  • Build your homepage with an introduction and links to your other pages.

Session 12:

  • Make your “Hobbies” page with pictures, fun lists, and facts.

Session 13:

  • Make your “Favorites” page with bright text, fun fonts, and clickable links.

Final Session:

  • Connect all pages with a navigation menu.
  • Test your site, fix mistakes, and make it awesome.
  • Show & Tell: Share your website with friends or family — you’re now a website builder!
  • Bonus Challenge: Add a “Contact Me” form just for fun.
